Staff to follow evacuation procedures

  • Practitioners to leave by the nearest exit taking with them the children that are in the area. Lead to take Registers and visitor signing in sheet outside.

  • At fire assembly point staff should count the children and agree that everyone is present while the register is being called and all adults and children are accounted for.

  • Office staff to dial 999 and ask for the Fire Brigade and take the contact box and a mobile phone outside with them.

  • Manager / senior member of staff must check all the rooms to ensure that NO children are in the room. Then close the doors behind them.

  • Staff must not attempt to re-enter the building until a Fire Office has said that it is safe to do so.

  • In the event of a small fire, staff trained in the use of Fire Extinguishers should attempt to extinguish the fire after evacuation of the premises.

  • Vicky McGowan must check all the rooms to ensure that NO children are in the room. Then close the doors behind them.

  • If there is a small fire Laura Petherick or Rachel Dix must attempt to extinguish it if present. If not close door and wait for fire brigade.
